The Deutsche Bank Proper Home 2020 project aimed to explore new service concepts for home loan savings, also known as "Bausparen," in Germany. The project aimed to find new ways to make home loans more intuitive, personalized, and accessible for the next generation.

Designers were tasked with developing ideas and concepts that were easy to understand, straightforward, inspiring, and offered clear added value. The concepts had to be driven by customer needs and customer benefits, targeting anyone potentially thinking of home ownership at some point in their life, with a focus on young people with a regular income. The project emphasized the importance of disruptive thinking, community aspects, gamification, evolving solutions, cooperative systems, and collaboration.

Understanding the Millennials

Millennials have lower rates of homeownership than their parents, partly due to the uncertainty of their future plans and their mobile lifestyles, which can present barriers to buying a house.

The Hierarchy of Needs

What was considered a necessity for previous generations is not as important for Millennials. They are either postponing major purchases or avoiding them altogether.
